Pakistan sets target of producing 300,000 to 400,000 trained workers for World Cup 2034

Pakistan has set a target of training 300,000 to 400,000 trained workers abroad for projects related to the FIFA World Cup 2034. The move is part of a broader strategy to increase employment opportunities abroad and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global labor market.

According to the documents, manpower planning is being aligned with the expected demand created by the World Cup 2034. Trained Pakistani workers are expected to play a significant role in infrastructure construction, aviation, tourism and related services sectors between 2026 and 2034.

During July-March of the fiscal year 2025-26, 215,719 workers were trained in soft skills.

During the year 2025, 762,499 workers were registered for employment abroad. Since 1972, more than 15 million Pakistanis have gone abroad through government channels.

Saudi Arabia remained the top destination for Pakistani workers in 2025, with 530,256 workers.

The government is also modernizing the immigration system through digital initiatives. The Pakistan Emigrant Management Framework is being developed, which will integrate 14 relevant agencies.

The digital HR pool system has been activated, which integrates biometric verification, job acquisition and transparent recruitment procedures.

The government aims to enable Pakistan to take advantage of emerging global opportunities through skills development, facilitating overseas employment and labor market reforms.
