The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to put the central contracts of several star cricketers on hold for not participating in domestic first-class matches.
PCB Director High Performance Aqib Javed says that in previous contracts, it was also necessary for players to play first-class cricket, but this did not happen. The system is the most important and everyone should give importance to it.
He said that until a player fulfills the condition of playing domestic cricket matches or does not get medical clearance, his contract will remain on hold. During this time, no compensation will be given, then when the condition is fulfilled, the arrears will also be received.
Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi also do not meet the minimum eligibility to play first-class matches.
Aqib Javed clarified that no one will get a contract on the basis of seniority and name. Selection will be made on the basis of data, impact will be given priority and fitness will also be of great importance.
Proposed details of the new contracts:
Track A (Test Specialist): Up to Rs 4 million per month, minimum 6 first-class matches mandatory, no leagues allowed.
Track AB (Test and ODI): Rs 48 to 5 million per month, 4 first-class and 4 ODI matches mandatory, one league allowed per year.
Track BC (ODI and T20): 2 first-class, 4 ODI and 6 T20 matches mandatory, 2 leagues allowed per year.
Track C (T20 Specialist): Rs 12 to 15 million per month, can play as many leagues as they want (not during national duty).
The PCB has prepared a draft of the new central contracts, the final announcement of which is expected soon.
